The Uplands Center is located at 2641 Dunk Hill Road, Walton NY, 13856 and can be inputted into Google maps either in address form or as “The Uplands Center.”
Uplands is best reached by car. Some retreats simplify attendee transport by renting vans with a single rendezvous departure and return site. If you have specific questions regarding your transportation requirements, please contact us directly.
If you are attending a winter retreat and are renting a car, we strongly recommend a 4-wheel drive vehicle
Directions to 2641 Dunk Hill Road, Walton NY, 13856:
Below are directions from NYC and northern NJ. Both take you to the New York Thruway (I-87 North), from which you proceed according to the directions set out 2 paragraphs below.
From NYC take GW Bridge to Route 80 to Garden State Parkway North to NJ17 North (through Paramus/Hohokus/Mahwah) to NY Thruway 287 North towards Albany (not Tappan Zee).
From NJ take Garden State Parkway, exit right to NJ17 North (through Paramus/Hohokus/Mahwah) to NY Thruway I87 (briefly called I287) North towards Albany (not the Tappan Zee Bridge).
From NY Thruway I87 (briefly called I287), take Exit 16/Harriman to NY17W. Stay on 17W for 56 miles to exit 94 at Roscoe. At stop sign go left onto Route 206/Cat Hollow Road for 11 miles. At the “T” intersection at Route 206 and Route 30, go left, toward 206 to Downsville/Walton. Pass through the town of Downsville in 2.7 miles, then proceed on 10 miles over Bear Mountain into the village of Walton. (You will cross over the West Branch of the Delaware river by taking a right over a bridge (Bridge St.) as you enter town). Take a right on Delaware St., which is the main street through town.
From Delaware St, turn left on North St., then Right on East St. and just after Bruce St take a soft left onto Rte 22, East Brook Road. After 1.9 miles, (just past a yellow “backwards K” sign) take a slight left up the rise of Dunk Hill Road. Go 2.8 miles and when you approach a very sharp 90-degree turn left down a hill, you’re almost there. Pass a grey house on the right which is just after a huge red barn. Turn left at 2641 Dunk Hill Road, onto a driveway between white farmhouse on the left and another large old red barn on the right. Drive to the top of the hill, go left down the tree-lined drive, and you’ve arrived!
From Oneonta (88 W), take NY-28 South from Oneonta. After 5 miles you will arrive at a traffic circle; take the 1st exit onto NY-357 W (which takes you through the town of Franklin) for 6.4 miles. Then turn left onto Franklin-Walton Road. After 3 miles, turn left onto Bennett Hollow Road. In 4.8 miles, turn left onto Dunk Hill Road. Drive 2.1 miles and the driveway will be on your right. The address on the mailbox says 2641, and the driveway is in between a large red barn and a white house. Head to the top of the driveway, through the gate into the tree-lined drive, and you’ve arrived!
