Hiking Trails

Exploring the great outdoors

side

Retreat guests and program attendees can immerse themselves in nature and get their bodies moving by exploring our extensive trail system! From a simple meandering walk out to a beautiful vista, to a more challenging hike to a scenic brook, our trails offer a path for everyone. Trail maps are available at our check-in desk, and hikes can be self-guided or led by an Uplands staff member.

Learning from Nature

side

Two interpretive trails at The Uplands provide opportunities for guests to learn from nature and connect with their environment in new ways. Signs along the Wellness Walk invite hikers to notice the similarities between human wellness and forest well-being, and prompts on each sign allow readers to contemplate themes of their life such as transformation, community support, and resilience. A self -guided pamphlet called “Tales of the Land” can accompany guests as they walk the Brook Trail. This brochure offers learnings about land use history, from farming to logging, by inviting readers to observe clues along the trail.
