Retreat Spotlight: NY-Presbyterian Hospital

Last week we had the joy and honor of hosting the NY-Presbyterian Hospital Emergency Medicine Residency Program for an overnight retreat. This vibrant group of interns and faculty enjoyed a healthy balance of rest, play, and reflection during their stay at The Uplands Center.

Upon arrival, the group headed up to Cheriklo, our special Cherry Tree Grove here, for an extended collective reflection. Lovingly prepared by our kitchen staff, dinner included coconut curry, cabbage udon noodles, crispy zucchini fries, roasted asparagus, and salad, followed by sweet orange almond cake. With full bellies and content hearts, the group concluded the evening with a fire and s’mores.

On their second day, some guests rose early for a complimentary mellow morning yoga session. After breakfast, we shifted gears and facilitated team games and an art activity in the Art Studio. Invited to have fun playing with color, geometry, and texture, the group created beautiful pastel mandalas. The result was a mosaic of unique and complementary creations. The day concluded with a peaceful sound bath and guided meditation, lunch, and free time to lounge or connect with colleagues.

We feel grateful to have hosted this well-deserving group of physicians. Thank you NYPH Emergency Medicine Residency for training such warm, well-rounded young physicians.
