On a cool misty morning in mid-June, thirteen talented and committed communications experts arrived at The Uplands.
McPherson Strategies helps organizations develop, amplify and communicate social impact initiatives. Their retreat was designed to restore and reset while exploring ways to promote greater work/life balance. Their time was mainly centered on fostering individual and collective well-being, focused on spending healing time in nature and in community with each other, creating and nurturing their relationships and shared identity as a team.
After a welcome lunch, the group visited nearby Stony Creek Farm where they delighted in holding baby lambs, picking strawberries, collecting eggs, and learning about regenerative farming. Back at the center, the group had some time to settle in, and then convened for a welcome and drinks before sitting down to a hearty meal.
With bellies full and hearts open, the group then gathered around a fire on the west-facing patio and engaged in a ceremony to set intentions for their time together. As the sun set and cast colors across the sky, the group engaged in storytelling, before heading up to the yoga studio for a sound bath before resting.
The following morning, one member of their group led a Pilates class. After breakfast, the group gathered in a circle under the shade of a tree to open space and ground before they embark in the day’s work and reflection together. Following a brainstorming session about marketing, the group developed a collective mural. Later that sparkling sunlit day, they were joined by a photographer that captured lovely images of the group and individuals. After dinner, the group was guided on a sunset walk before playing games in the guest house.
During their final morning at The Uplands, another member of the group led an aqua aerobics class, followed by breakfast and a closing reflection.
We were delighted to host McPherson Strategies again, and to see them enjoy even more of what The Uplands has to offer.
