The Uplands was delighted to welcome back the Emergency Medicine Residency Program from the Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences on May 7–8, 2025.
After arriving on a spring day marked by fickle weather, the group of twenty residents and five attending physicians settled in with excited conversation, hot beverages, and wholesome treats as they cozied up for a self-led collective reflection on the past year.
The intermittent rain had everyone eager for relaxation—whether in the spa, at a healing sound bath in the yoga room, or around the planned bonfire. As it turned out, they enjoyed all of the above following a fabulous dinner featuring delectable, wild-foraged spring edibles and local farm-raised chicken. The residents made the most of the evening, staying up late and connecting through joyful moments together.
Day two began with an optional Yoga Flow class, which some dedicated residents rose early to join. After a hearty breakfast of local eggs and wild ramps, the group set out on a guided hike along our new Perimeter Trail and out to the Vista Shed, enjoying the exercise and the fresh, rain-cleansed air. The experience felt so rejuvenating that they continued hiking through their free time right up to their team-building art activity—an inspiring session full of connection, creativity, and play.
The retreat concluded with a heartfelt integration session back in the living room together. A nourishing lunch followed, earning rave reviews before the group returned to the city and their teaching hospitals.
